S&S Trails was invited by Environmental Stewardship, a Bastrop, Texas based non-profit, to help improve 3/4 of a mile of singletrack at the Lost Pines Nature Trails site. The project included widening sections of the trail along the river, completing the corridor work along the return route, and lots of bench cutting on the steep hill slopes. The intent was to make a nice hiking and mountain biking trail.

Rivers Edge

The trail will provide great views of the Colorado River and will have excellent birding opportunities. Among lots of songbirds, the crew also saw a red shouldered hawk almost every day and a barred owl on a few occasions.

Another part of the project was to construct a granite path from the parking lot to the trail head. This section was 300 feet long and is mostly wide open, but makes for an inviting start to the singletrack trail.
