This week, S&S Trails had the chance to participate in the Professional Trail Builders Association annual Member meeting and conference. As part of the Conference, Susan and Ryan took the MTDC Chainsaw Safety and Certification course where both were recommended to be Class B Sawyers.
The member conference is an opportunity for members of PTBA to learn from each other. Sessions included insurance and bonding issues, GPS/GIS information, and conference planning for next year. The conference, being held in Albuquerque, NM, was also an opportunity for the Pro’s to share their knowledge with the local trail users by building a few sections of trail in the Sandia Foot Hills. Rock breaking and moving was important for this task, so there were gas powered rock drills, an excavator with a jackhammer head, a Sweco and a mini-excavator.
