Another exciting RTP project is taking place in the city of Arlington, and S&S Trails were happy to be invited to participate in a consultation and trail design visit with Kurt Beilharz from the city parks department, and a volunteer named Jack from the local Rotary Club. Ryan, Susan, and Chuck scouted a beautiful piece of property in the city, and found opportunities for some outstanding hiking trail in undeveloped areas surrounding the ADA accessible trail that is currently being constructed.
The city hopes to continue a partnership that has been built with the Rotary Club, wherein S&S Trails will be hired as professional trail design consultants to lay out the trail, and will then train and supervise volunteers to get the majority of the trail construction completed. Some of the sideslopes are steep enough that mechanized construction would be useful in those areas, to get more trail built in a shorter amount of time; then the volunteers could use hand tools to do the finish work and clean up the construction area. The trail project will provide some much needed natural escape from the bustle of the city, and we look forward to partnering with the city of Arlington in the future in completing this work.
